Every year Buffett, the second richest man in the world, invites several schools from all over the globe to visit his world headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska for one day and learn about business, ethics, and life. The University of Akron was invited this year thanks to Dr. Todd Finkle, associate professor of management and academic director of the Fitzgerald Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies in UA’s College of Business Administration. Finkle, who is also a native of Omaha, spent the last two years researching and writing a case study on Buffett and his investment company, Berkshire Hathaway. “It was accepted for publication in a journal and I sent a copy to [Buffett] to read. Within 10 days he invited us to visit Omaha… an opportunity for the students and myself to learn from one of the best business minds of all time,’’ Dr. Finkle said. Besides meeting with Buffett, Finkle and the CBA graduate and undergraduate students visited the Nebraska Furniture Mart and Borsheim’s, both Berkshire subsidiaries. |4|
