Your local farmer’s market caters to the best a community has to offer through locally grown plants, produce, baked goods, dairy products, seafood, art, music, and crafts! You are able to talk with the folks who made these products and this shopping trip is fun. You cannot get that type of fun at a big box store. 4 eggs, beaten 1 1/4 c chopped pecans Directions Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter and flour two 9 x 5 inch loaf pans. Slice strawberries, and place in a medium-sized bowl. Sprinkle lightly with sugar, and set aside while preparing bread mixture. Combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, salt, and baking soda in large bowl: mix well. Blend oil and eggs into strawberries. Add strawberry mixture to flour mixture, blending until dry ingredients are just moistened. Stir in pecans. Divide batter into pans. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until tester inserted comes out clean. Let cool in pans on wire rack for 10 minutes. Turn loaves out and cool completely. Visit www.YoungChefsAcademy.com Fresh Asparagus and Bacon Pizza Ingredients 5 thick slices bacon, cut into 1 inch pieces 1 unbaked pizza crust or flat bread 1 lb shredded mozzarella cheese 1 c chopped fresh asparagus 1 c halved cherry or grape tomatoes 1 (11 oz) log fresh chevre (goat cheese) 1 tsp red pepper flakes freshly ground black pepper to taste Directions Preheat the oven to 375°F. Place bacon in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook for a few minutes to release most of the grease, but do not cook until crisp. Remove to paper towels to drain. Spread the pizza crust out on a pizza pan or large baking sheet. Top with mozzarella cheese, bacon pieces, asparagus, and tomatoes. Dot with goat cheese and then season with red pepper flakes and black pepper. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes in the preheated oven, until the crust is golden brown underneath when you lift it up to take a peek.
