Pratt and Lambert - Personal Expressions 2008 - (Page 2) welcome SHADES of I Summer n some parts of the country, summer rolls in with a bang. After months of hibernating under layers of clothing and blankets, the mercury jumps 40 degrees in a matter of days, bringing white-hot heat and humidity with it. Furious storms blow through in fantastic shades of blues, grays and greens, while lavender lightning shocks in the distance. And while these colors don’t necessarily reflect the brightness often associated with the season, they do sometimes offer a reprieve from the stifling heat that settles in the hottest summer months. Grays and blues are refreshing. During those quick and furious storms, we seek shelter indoors and beneath awnings or umbrellas. But when the clouds break and the downpour dies down to a drizzle, the world is revived in a way. Grays and blues bring fresh breezes. They wipe the slate clean and promise a bit of coolness, at least for a little while. In Seattle, where gray is a mainstay, designers bring the color indoors. P R AT TA N D L A M B E R T. C O M
